Ilusi is an ebook reader that draws the scene in front of you — a full-page plate at the moment the passage arrives, in the style of a classic illustrated edition.
Built for readers who can't picture what they read. Aphantasia isn't rare — somewhere around one person in twenty has little or no visual imagery. Ilusi doesn't ask you to imagine harder; it puts the picture on the page.
How it works
Open a book you already own. Ilusi reads it once, free, and tells you what illustrating it would cost before anything is drawn — how many pictures, how many characters, how many credits. Nothing happens until you say so.
As you read, plates appear a chapter ahead of you, so the picture is already there when you arrive. Characters keep their faces from one chapter to the next. Stop halfway and the rest is never drawn, and never charged.

Read aloud
The voice follows the page and pauses on each illustration, so the picture lands in the silence instead of being talked over.
Characters
Tap a character's name to see their face and description — as far as you have read, never further.
Reading is free
The whole reader costs nothing. Themes, typography, dyslexia font, read-aloud. Illustrations are the part you pay for.
What it costs
One credit draws one illustration. Credits never expire, and they are only spent on pages you actually reach. A novel typically runs to a hundred or so illustrations if you read all of it — and far fewer if you don't.
There is no subscription and no free trial of illustrations. You either want the pictures or you don't.
